But like most former British colonies, there is a dark side to Barbados’ history not taught in schools. And the mainstream media hesitate to reveal its dark secret.
Researcher Michael A. Hoffman II in They Were White and They Were Slaves asks: “How many White tourists today who take winter vacations in…Jamaica and Barbados know that they are visiting the site of a gruesome holocaust against poor White people who died by the tens of thousands and were slaves in those islands long before Blacks ever were?” (p. 50)
How many White tourists to Barbados know about the Irish slave holocaust where over 50,000 men, women and children were sold as slaves in Barbados (and Virginia)? (To Hell or Barbados)
You won’t discover this information by watching CNN or FOX News. There is an important reason for this omission. In 2013, it is sacrilegious to call a Black person a “nigger” but, as Hoffman observes, the corporate elite gleefully use “redneck” (the equivalent name for White people) to express contempt for White poor people.
